I Want to Be a Bodybuilder When I Grow Up

Now that I have reached the ripe old age of 33 and recently left behind my childhood years I am keen to have a serious go at bodybuilding. I have trained with weight s for ages but never really had a go at building muscle mass. My weight training was mainly just targeted at keeping fit and healthy as I have always had trouble keeping my weight down.

It has only been the last year that I have got some consistency back into my weight training and diet and I am starting to feel a lot better for it. So it is time to really start upping the intensity and adding some solid muscle. (more…)

Cardio – The Necessary Evil!

I hate the typical “cardio” activities. When I talk about cardio I am referring to exercises bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, stair climbers etc. I really don’t see the point of sitting on a machine inside a building simulating an activity that can be performed outdoors. However I have found out the hard way that you sometimes need to incorporate a bit of cardio activity into your weight training.

79 year old Bodybuilder still going strong

If you didn’t see it on A Current Affair the other night, there was a segment on 79 year old bodybuilder Ray Moon. What a champion! I think he only started weight training 4 years ago. He now trains 5 days a week and competes in the over 70 year old division. (more…)

We had the privilege of having Toney Freeman signing autographs near our stand at the IFBB Pro Bodybuilding Grand Prix in Melbourne. The poor bloke was knackered from competing but was more than happy to sign autographs for hours. A lot of athletes could learn some valuable lessons in humility from bodybuilders – in a sport where there is not a lot of money or glamour they certainly appreciate their fans. (more…)
