Even though Brad mentions that exercises like cable bench press will not build serious strength or muscle mass, they still are a handy exercise for serious weight trainers. If you are training hard there will be times when the mind is willing but the body says no. There is nothing worse than starting your session and you start increasing the weights and tempo but your body just does not get out of first gear. Probably the best lesson I have learnt over the years is that you need to listen to your body.In these situations I will often do a lighter workout. Exercises like cable chest press can be performed with little weight and still get a great pump in your chest. So your muscles get a bit of work but your joints get a well earnt break.
