The Powertec Shape System takes the traditional cable crossover to a whole new level. Not only does this machine offer more features it takes up far less space than the old type of cable crossover. The Powertec Shape System can be used as a multi gym for toning and maintaining strength. Alternatively it is an awesome addition to an existing gym providing a vast array of exercises that target different body parts.

The first thing that people say when they see this machine is that it is not wide enough to perform the traditional cable crossover exercise. The problem with traditional cable crossovers is that you pull the weight from the side. This means that you use some lat, delts and traps in the movement.

When you normally work the chest, for example dumbbell press or dumbbell flys, the resistance is being applied from in front of your chest towards your back. The Powertec Shape System replicates the dumbbell fly with the resistance coming from behind your body. This new version of the cable crossover exercise isolates the pecs from the start to the very finish of the movement. Here is training video that we did to demonstrate this.

Another advantage of the Powertec Shape System over many traditional cable crossovers is the cable height can be adjusted as opposed to having two fixed cable points – one high and one low. This multiple height adjustment allows you to really isolate and target specific muscle groups. It is also great for doing rotator cuff work.

The addition of the new folding bench allows you to perform many more exercises than the traditional cable type movements. The Powertec Shape System is great alternative for someone who is not confident or comfortable with using dumbbells. You can perform all the traditional dumbbell movements with the Powertec Shape System with complete safety making it ideal for the beginner.

The Powertec Shape System is also an excellent machine for the advanced weight trainer looking to supplement their heavy pressing movements with some targeted isolation work. The Powertec nylon bush weight carriage is super smooth and provides direct and constant resistance. The Powertec Shape System is heavy duty too, with a weight load capacity of 110kgs, it can accommodate strength gains comfortably.
